PURPOSE:To improve the machining characteristics such as the machining speed of electric discharge machining and the wear ratio of electrode and the like by a method wherein liquid, which comprises kerosine blended with the specified percent of insulation oil, silicon oil or machine oil to the total weight of liquid, is employed as working fluid. CONSTITUTION:The kerosine-base liquid added with insulation oil, silicon oil or machine oil, the adding percentage to the total weight of the liquid of which lies within the range of 10-60%, is used as the working fluid of electric discharge machining. The working fluid comprising 50% kerosine and 50% insulation oil gives the machining speed about 1.3 times as high and the wear ratio of electrode about a half as those of kerosine only under the conditions of low peak current. The working fluid comprising 50% kerosine and 50% silicon oil gives the machining speeds about 1.8 times as high under the conditions of high peak current and about 1.2 times as high under the conditions of low peak current as those of kerosine only, while the wear ratio of electrode is the same as that of kerosiene only. The machining characteristics of electric discharge machining are improved by employing the above-mentioned working fluids. |
