A blower beater mill for grinding and drying comprises a mill shaft water-cooled longitudinally and having hub rings; a rotor having a beater, on the mill shaft(2), and a fan impeller(9) and beater arms(7) between the hub rings(18). The hub rings have shaft crests enclosed by a spaced jacket comprising individual rings through which the beater arms pass. High temps. on the shaft crest are avoided and the temp. differential across the shaft cross-section is reduced. The device is cheap and simple. It may be readily serviced and has a long operating life.
