发明名称 LIGHT CONTROLLING DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To control selectively the quantity of the transmission of the light in optional positions on a two-dimensional space, by superposing respective electrooptic plates on adjacent input/output faces of a polarizing prism so that arrangement directions of electrodes are orthogonal to each other and superposing respective plane mirrors on these input/output faces of the polarizing prism so that respective electrooptic plates are interposed between these plane mirrors and input/output faces of the polarizing prism. CONSTITUTION:The state where only an electrooptic plate M1 is driven is shown in figure (a), and the state where both electrooptic plates M1 and M2 are driven is shown in figure (b), and the operation state is shown in figure (c). When a polarized light having the plane of polarization which goes straightly in a polarizing prism P is inputted, the light passing through the polarizing prism P is subjected to a prescribed double refraction corresponding to the magnitude of an applied voltage and is reflected by a plane mirror MR1 and is inputted again to the electrooptic plate M1 and is inputted again to the polarizing prism if only the electrooptic plate M1 is driven as shown in figure (a). Though the light is subjected to the double refraction twice as total, the applied voltage required for generating a desired double refraction quantity is reduced because the double refraction quantity and the applied voltage of electrooptic plates have a proportional relation.
