PURPOSE:To obtain distilled oils as the product of decomposition and to produce reduced iron powder of high quality by decomposing heavy oil thermally with iron ore powder as a heat medium, and reducing iron ore by utilizing the carbon by-produced by this. CONSTITUTION:Heavy oil such as residual oil of vacuum distillation from a storage tank 1 is preheated at the temp. at which it does not decompose thermally in a preheating furnace 2 and is then supplied into a thermal decomposition furnace 4 by fluidized beds. On the other hand, iron ore powder is conveyed from a hopper 7 with steam and is fed into an ore heater 3, where it is heated to about 600-700 deg.C with the waste gas of about 800-1,100 deg.C from a rotary kiln 6. This heated powder is fed into said furnace 4 through a piping 13 to heat the heavy oil to about 400-630 deg.C and to decompose the same, whereby gasoline, gas oil, etc. are obtained. The greater part of the iron ore stuck with 2-20wt% gaseous carbon by-produced by the decomposition is circulated to said heater 3, and a part is drawn out through a piping 15 and is reduced by utilizing the by- produced carbon at 800-1,200 deg.C in the atmosphere of the decompositing gas in the kiln 6. |
