An engine brake not linked with an exhaust cam of the present invention comprises a standard engine brake (1) comprising a master piston (20) generating high pressure oil stored in a high pressure storage room (11) of a housing body (10) into low pressure oil, and a modified engine brake (1-1) fed with the high pressure oil through a high pressure oil pipe (90), removing the master piston (20). The standard engine brake (1) and the modified engine brake (1-1) are assembled to constitute an engine (400) together with a variable valve system (100) by varying each of assembly combination. Thus, the engine brake can be applied to all valve system where it is impossible to determine a compression top dead center (TDC) using an exhaust cam (110). Especially, it is possible to manufacture the engine brake with excellent price competitiveness since manufacturing costs are reduced by omitting the master piston (20). |
