PURPOSE:To prevent the burning of a heating resistor of a thermal head when printing paper stops by turning off power supply to the thermal head based on the output of a detecting section for detecting abnormality in conveying of the printing paper. CONSTITUTION:The stopping of a motor 15 is detected based on the output of a motor control circuit 3, and according to the results of this detecting the electric power supply line of a thermal head 5 is ON/OFF controlled. When the motor is stopped, the power to the thermal head 5 is immediately cut, and burning of heating resistors 7-1-7-n is prevented for sure. A head control circuit 2 generates head driving signal S1 based on printing data supplied from a microprocessor 1 and outputs it to a head driving circuit 4. The circuit 4 in turn amplifies the signal S1 and outputs to the thermal head 5. |
