Polyolefin is extruded through a die into a tubular film, passed around the outside of a slightly tapered cylindrical bubble stabilizer, blown with air, and wound at 5-50m/min to give a film having even thickness and good mech. strength. Thus, high-d. polyethylene was extruded through a 75 mm diam. ring-shaped die, passed up around the bubble stabilizer height 700mm (with the top 500 mm tapered at a 3.5≦̸angle), bottom diam. 75mm, and top diam.>75mm and blown to give an 11 μ film having thickness variation ±1.0 %, compared with ±8.0 % for a similar film prepd. without the bubble stabilizer.
