A film material essentially comprising a high-molecular-weight poly-p-phenyl sulphide, where, on extraction with chloroform, the amount of extract therefrom is less than 1.5% by weight of the total weight before extraction, and its crystallinity index is greater than 2.5 and less than 8.0, its crystal size is greater than 5 x 10<-7> cm and less than 10 x 10<-7> cm, and its orientation factors, measured perpendicular to the film plane and in the transverse and longitudinal directions, are in each case greater than 0.70, measured by wide-angle X-ray diffraction. The film material is particularly suitable for use for printed circuits, in which case it is coated with a thin metal foil.
