PURPOSE:To obtain a detecting element whose detection sensitivity is high to alcohol vapor and low to methane and the like, by mixing materials so as to obtain an element composition composed of MgO, Cr2O3 and ZrO2 in the specified mol ratio and by baking the same. CONSTITUTION:Materials of MgO, Cr2O3 and ZrO2 are mixed so as to attain an element composition wherein MgO and Cr2O3 are equal in mol and total to 50-90mol% and wherein ZrO2 is 50-1mol%. Then, the mixed materials are formed in a desired shape and baked, whereby an aimed alcohol detecting elemet is obtained. The alcohol detecting element thus obtained is combined with a gap detecting element and arranged in a gas-leak alarm, whereby false operation of the gas-leak alarm due to alcohol vapor can be prevented. |
