PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a printer with a reduced burden of a printing paper on the running system by gradually varying the cycle of pulses applied to a stepping motor outside the printing lines. CONSTITUTION:When the scanning of printing lines ends, the signal 5 is halted during the printing. A space line counter 4 whose resetting is released sequentially counts space lines by a line starting signal 7 supplied before the scanning of spaces starts for each line. The counted value is outputted to a multiplexer 3 as space line counting signal 8. The multiplexer 3 alternatively outputs pulses each with a cycle of T21-T2n as stepping pulse 6 in sequence according to the contents of a signal 8. The cycle of the pulse output from the multiplexer 3 becomes gradually shorter each time the number of space lines increases, and at the line almost intermediate between spaces, it becomes shortest. Thereafter, it becomes gradually longer each time the number of space lines increases. Thus, the cycle T2n of the pulse is almost equal to the cycle T21 at the last space line. |
