The function generator contains a voltage controlled oscillator each frequency range of which is determined by a non grounded capacitor. The signals produced at the terminals of this capacitor are used to generate triangular signals. These signals can be generated at frequencies which are different from those normally imposed by the structure of the voltage controlled oscillator. The triangle signals can then be transformed into sinusoidal signals by a wave shaper. This design permits the useful frequency range to be extended whilst keeping the appts. simple. The frequency ranges can be used sequentially or by skipping some of them. New frequency bands can be added in a non-juxtaposed nor overlapping fashion. The control voltage for the VCO is supplied by a comparator receiving a reference voltage and a potentiometer output.
