This ignition device (11) is provided to a gas turbine burner (10) into which supercritical-pressure CO2 is introduced. The ignition device (11) is equipped with: a shutoff valve (50) provided on the outer surface of a casing (20) of the burner (10), the shutoff valve (50) opening or shutting off communication between the interior of the casing (20) and the exterior of the casing (20); an ignition rod (60) configured from an elongated rod part (61) provided with a spark discharge part (62) at the distal end thereof, the ignition rod (60) being capable of extending and retracting from the exterior of the casing (20) through the shutoff valve (50) into the interior of a burner liner (30) provided within the casing (20); and a drive unit (70) for causing the ignition rod (60) to extend and retract.
