PURPOSE:To measure efficiently the level of dust by a method wherein a laser light is projected on the surface of dust piled in a pit, the reflected rays from the surface of dust are received and the projection angle and the projection positon of the laser light are computed. CONSTITUTION:Assuming that, when a light receiving device receives the laser light reflected on the surface of the dust 1', a positional signal of a traveling trolley 3 through a position detector 8 is X and an angle signal of a luminous device 6 through an angle detector 10 is theta, the distance Z from the same level to the luminous device 6 to the surface of the dust 1' is given by Z=X.tan theta so that the level of the dust 1' can easily be measured. Representing the distance from the same level as the luminous device 6 to the base of the pit 1 by H, the distance from the base of the pit 1 to the level of the dust by h, the following relationship is established: h=H-Z=H-X.tan theta. |
