The process provides a container lid (5) with a lever-action piercing tongue (1). A plane rigid tongue is fabricated and provided with a fulcrum axle (2), a piercing arm (8) and a handling arm (7). The lever is fixed to the lid by the axle. The tongues may be fabricated from thermoplastic sheet with each axis of articulation being made by a forming rib (2) on the surface of the respective tongue. The tongue is fixed to its container lid by the rib. The containers are also made from the same thermoplastics sheet.
