Tertiary-amyl methyl ether is admixed to gasoline to improve the octane number, the mixture in general containing methanol which can be undesirable in such mixtures. The invention describes the extraction of methanol from the mixture with ether, using glycol, before the ether is admixed to the gasoline product.
