<p>The terminal valve (5) is for a horizontal thermally-insulated supply (1) of liquified gas, insulated by vacuum and liquified at the lower boiling point. Its purpose is to reduce gas losses due to heat at the terminal, using a length of gas-filled pipe (8) to provide a degree of valve isolation on the pipe axis. The feed is interrupted in a closed container (6) located inside the vacuum (3) envelope (2) short of the valve. The pipe from the storage tank opens out (7) in the bottom of the container, and the inlet (8) of the pipe to the valve is sited in the top.</p> |
