The process is used to measure the height and position of a helicopter in relation to the ground while it is hovering. The measurement uses a weighted cable (1) unwound by a winch (3) controlled by a bi-directionally rotating motor (13) and whose ballast rests on the ground. The tension of the cable (1) is measured by a torsion balance (4) which controls the winch (3) motor (13). When the cable (1) tension indicates that the ballast weight rests on the ground, its length is measured by an angular sensor (16) connected to the winch (3) drum (15). The position of the cable (1) is measured using two perpendicular rotary forks (22,23), two angular sensors (20,21) and two helicopter attitude sensors (33,34).
|
