Method for casting steel ingots

In the method for casting steel ingots for the subsequent production, by rolling, of roughed slabs, billets and sheets, the molten steel is poured into a mould corresponding to the subsequent shape of the ingot and produced from a refractory insulating material. Because the ingot cast in this way cools slowly within the insulation, it can be rolled down directly at its own temperature without intermediate heating.
