PURPOSE:To obtain an exhaust system of little back-pressure for an internal combustion engine, by determining the external diameter of a pipe which connects a supercharger of an exhaust turbine with a silencer to be about 60mm.. CONSTITUTION:The external diameter of an exhaust pipe 7 which connects the supercharger 6 for an exhaust turbine with a silencer 9 is determined to be about 60mm., in an automobile engine, having displacement in the range of about 1,500cc through 2,800cc, and also having the supercharger for an exhaust turbine. The exhaust pipe of this kind, heretofore in use, was about 50mm. which is as same as of the one for an internal combustion engine not having the supercharger for an exhaust turbine. If a supercharger is fitted to the pipe in this size, abverse effect will be exerted to the efficiency of an engine, because the increase of displacement will cause the pipe to highten the back-pressure. The back-pressure can be reduced, by determining the diameter of an exhaust pipe to be as large as about 60mm.. However, it is not proper that the diameter will exceeds 70mm., because the pipe 7 will come in touch with a body 2 in that state. |
