发明名称 ELECTROCHROMIC DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a panel having a large number of segments, to prevent color uneveness and a reduction in the responding speed, and to enable operation with a light pen by piercing electric conductors in a front glass substrate from the surface to the rear to electrically connect the substrate to display electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Through holes are bored in the front glass substrate 14 of an electrochromic display (ECD) device with an ultrasonic working machine. Electric conductors 13 such as fine glass rods each coated with a metal or an electrically conductive transparent film are inserted in the holes, and the gaps are sealed by welding glass or injecting an adhesive. Electrically conductive transparent films 21 and display electrodes 22 are formed on the substrate 14 by vapor deposition, and an ECD device is fabricated using this substrate. A light pen 24 is brought into contact with the conductor 13 of a segment to be switched on, and a negative voltage is applied to the electrode 22 from a power supply to develop color. To erase the color the reverse voltage is applied. Thus, the formation of a large number of slender lead wires on the substrate 14 is made unnecessary, and an ECD device with no color uneveness and no delay in response for an X-Y coder is obtd.
