A displacement sensor is proposed by means of which preferably relatively long displacements are converted into an electrical signal. For this purpose, an electrically non-conductive rod core (1) is provided on which a coil arrangement (4) fed with alternating current is mounted. The rod core (1) plunges displacement-dependently into a tube (2) which is lined on the inside with an electrically conductive material, preferably in the form of a bushing (3). Due to the displacement-dependent plunging of the rod core (1) into the tube (2), the eddy currents in the bushing (3) change, from which a displacement-dependent signal is derived. <IMAGE>
