Optical two-way intercom system, in which optical signals are fed in by an optical transmitter (5 or 6, 18 or 19) at least on one side of an optical path (optical waveguide 1, 15, 16) and in which an acknowledgement of the optical signals is sent to an optical receiver (6 or 5, 19 or 18) in the optical transmitter (5 or 6, 18 or 19). So that transmission and reception can be performed via the same optical waveguide (1, 15, 16), the optical transmitter and the optical receiver (5 or 6, 18 or 19) are disposed one behind the other, where at least the inner element has an optical transmission aperture (5a, 6a, 18a, 19a). The invention can be used in optical paths of any type where an acknowledgment is to be sent via the same optical path, such as, for example, in the case of thin optical waveguide fibres. <IMAGE>
