In a pusher centrifuge with a screen drum (1) and a pusher plate (3), an increase in the throughput capacity (8) accompanied by a low level of residual moisture is achieved in that the maximum possible filling height of the charging zone (10) in the rotating drum is brought about in all the movement phases of the pusher plate (3) and of the solid (13) in the screen drum (1) by means of a controlled filling and storage device (Fig. 1).
