PURPOSE:To make it possible to manufacture the gas sensitive element characterized by excellent shock resistance, high reliability, and a high yield rate, by applying slurry prepared by adding an organic binder and solvent into catalyst powder to the outer surface of a gaseous body, sintering the product, thereby forming a catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:At first, aqueous solution of vanadium and aqueous solution of molibdenum are prepared as catalysts. As a support, specified amount of Al2O3 is added to the mixed solution of vanadium-molibdenum. The solution is left for 24hr. Thereafter, it is evaporated, dried, crushed, and sintered at 600 deg.C. In the meantime, the organic binder is added in the powder or ZnO-Sb2O3 and mixed to obtain paste state. The mixture is applied on the surface of an insulating substrate 1, on which gold paste is applied and sintered and a pair of electrodes 2 are provided. Then it is dried and sintered, and the gase sensitive layer 3 is formed. Then the slurry of the catalyst, which is prepared by adding aqueous solution of methylcellulose to the previously prepared catalyst, is applied on the layer 3, dried, and sintered. Thus a catalyst layer 4 is formed and the gas sensitive element is obtained. |
