PURPOSE:To increase discharge performance at a low temperature by using the mixture of cross linking sodium polyacrylate and carboxy methyl cellulose of high degree of substitution as a gelling agent of an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The mixture of cross linking sodium polyacrylate and carboxy methyl cellulose of high degree of substitution is used as a gelling agent and added to an alkaline electrolyte and mixed to prepare a gel-like electrolyte. Amalgamated zinc powder is mixed with the gel-like electrolyte to prepare a paste-like anode 2. As the cross linking sodium polyacrylate mentioned above, for example, sodium salt of multibiranching polyacrylic acid obtained by adding the molecular chain of other polyacrylic acid to the side chain of straight chain polyacrylic acid, or sodium salt of polyacrylic acid copolymer obtained from acrylic acid and polyfunctional group monomer such as methylene bisacrylamide, divinylbenzene is used. As the carboxy methyl cellulose of high degree of substitution, carboxy methyl cellulose having about 1.4 or more degree of substitution is used. |
