PURPOSE:To increase surface area of a jet stream of flame and promote its combustion speed, by communicating a subcombustion chamber to a main combustion chamber through a communication passage and forming said communication passage to eccentric slit shape for the axial line of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A subcombustion chamber 19 is communicated to a main combustion chamber 5 through a communication passage 20, simultaneously a spark plug electrode 22 is arranged in the communication passage 20. The slit-shaped communication passage 20 is spread throughout almost full length of a subchamber element internal end side 18 and direction toward an eccentric direction for the axial line of a cylinder. Flame of a mixture ignited by a spark plug 21 is jetted into the main combustion chamber 5 from the communication passage 20 against a turning stream B as shown by an arrow head A. At this time, surface area of this jetted flame is increased to promote combustion speed. In this way, a fuel consumption rate can be improved simultaneously driveability of a vehicle can be improved. |
