PURPOSE:To improve the efficency of ''kana'' (Japanese syllabary)/''kanji'' (Chinese character) convertion by applying the ''kana''/''kanji'' conversion to the whole or a part of an unconverted ''kana'' character string under a conversion mode based upon the dictionary retrieval corresponding to the phonetical reading/Japanese pronunciation of ''kanji''. CONSTITUTION:Out of a ''kanji'' reading row inputted from a keyboard 5, the ''kana'' reading of the part punctuated by a ''kanji'' punctuating key is writted in a converting buffer memory in an RAM 15. Whether the character processing mode for ''kana''/''kanji'' conversion is a word mode or not is checked and, in case of the word mode, ''kana''/''kanji'' conversion is excuted. If the discriminated result is not the work mode, whether the processing mode is the phonetical reading/Japanese pronunciation or not is checked; when the said mode is applied, ''kana''/''kanji'' conversion is executed. After checking that inputted ''kana'' character string is converted into ''kanji'', the converted output ''kanji'' string is written in an output buffer memory 15A in the RAM 15; when conversion processing is not completed, the uncompleted ''kana'' character-strimng is written in the output buffer memory 15A. Then the contents stored in the output buffer memory 15A is read out and displayed on a CRT display device 8. |
