Separating device for rectangular packaged articles, in particular bottle crates, for example on palletising machines or bottle packing machines, in which, according to Fig. 1, for obtaining high performance and a low-impact and low-noise mode of operation, a number of contact rollers (12 to 15) rotate, at a spacing (16) from one another which is dimensioned smaller than the length (17) of the packaged article, on a track which forms the casing of a circular cylinder (7, 8) lying transverse to the conveyor belt (18) and protruding into the latter only via an upper section (21), such that the packaged articles (1) brought into position closely, one after another, in a continuous delivery flow bear against a rotating contact roller (12), and the contact roller (13) coming up next after that into the conveyor belt (18) lifts the front packaged article (1) at its rear end while at the same time holding up the remaining packaged articles (1). <IMAGE>
