PURPOSE:To prevent the entitled reader from error reading by inhibiting the output of demodulation data from a data demodulating part when discrimination-unable module width information is detected in a comparing part. CONSTITUTION:The bar code reader is provided with a width measuring part 52 measuring the width from a prescribed changing point to another prescribed changing point after receiving a reading signal from a bar code reading part 51, and a data demodulating part 55 outputting the demodulation data corresponding to the module width information from a dividing part for finding the ratio of the measured width information measured by the width measuring part 52 to the previously fixed standard module width information. In addition, the reader is also provided with a comparing part 56 which compares the module width information from the dividing part 54 with the previously fixed demodulation discriminating information and detects discrimination-unable module width information, and when the comparing part 56 detects the discrimination-unable module width information, the demodulation data from the data demodulating part is inhibited from being outputted. |
