The sealing device consists of two bridges (10a, 10b) which are joined to one another by a compression cylinder (12) and in which running wheel pairs (13) are mounted some of which can be driven by motors (14). A carrier plate (7) is floatingly centred in the bridges. A nozzle (8) penetrating the carrier plate can be connected to a pressurised source of sealing material. The device is placed with the running wheel pairs (13) against the insulating glass pane (30) with the carrier plate (7) against the outer edges of the glass panes (3). Then the bridges (10a, 10b) are clamped with respect to one another by the pressure medium cylinder (12). When the drive motor is switched on, the device then moves, by virtue of the inclined running wheels, constantly along the pane edge, so that sealing material can be filled through the nozzle (8) into the filling space (4) of the insulating glass pane (30) without the sealing material overflowing over the edges thereof, with simultaneous pressing of the panes against one another. <IMAGE>
