PURPOSE:To measure a trace amt. of leakage of a battery accurately and quickly by adding Rb or Cs into the electrolyte of the battery to be examined, and measuring the fluorescent X-rays of the Rb or Cs in the leaking liquid. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte dissolved with Rb or Cs is used for an aq. alkali soln. of a silver oxide battery, an alkali manganese battery, a nickel cadmium battery or the like. Such battery 13 is placed on a sample feed belt 14, and is irradiated with the fluorescent X-rays (Rb alpha-rays or Cs alpha-rays) from an air cooled tungsten tube bulb 11. The Rb or Cs in the leaking liquid is measured with a xenon-sealed proportional counter 12. Thereby, the leakage is inspected easily and accurately in a short time in the air as well. |
