<p>PURPOSE:To prevent damage of a tape by independently applying braking to a supply reel and a winding reel at servo-off state depending on the tape winding state and the tape running state to make both the braking distance equal. CONSTITUTION:The tape running direction, a tape running speed, moment of inertia of supply reel and movement of inertia of winding reel are detected by a braking controller 21 at production of servo-off, and a reel having a longer braking distance is judged to be the winding reel 102 based on the moment of inertia of the supply reel 101 and the winding reel 102 at first, a brake instruction is issued to a winding reel drive circuit 17 to apply braking to a winding reel motor 2. Then a brake instruction is issued to a supply reel drive circuit 16 with a delay time in response to the ratio of the moment of inertia of the supply reel 101 and the winding reel 102 and the tape feed speed to apply braking to the supply reel motor 2. Thus, both the brake distance of the supply reel 101 and the winding reel 102 is made equal. Thus, the tape 103 is neither tensed nor slacked, then damage to be inflicted on the tape is prevented.</p> |
