The present invention concerns a spreader for fixation of fuel rods 3, 13 in a fuel canister 1, 11 for a nuclear reactor. The fuel canister 1, 11 consists of an oblong polygonal sleeve in which the fuel rods 3, 13 are fixed by means of a plurality of spreaders arranged along the fuel rods 3, 13. At least one of said spreaders consists of bands 4, 14 stretched between a first fastening point on one of the side walls 2, 12 of the sleeve and travelling across at least one fuel rod 3, 13 to a second fastening point on another of the side walls 2, 12 of the sleeve. These fastening points, when the sleeve is subjected to internal pressure, strive to move away from each other, whereupon the bands 4, 14 stretched between the fastening points are tightened and act on the fuel rod or rods 3, 13 that the bands travel across with an increasing lateral force. <IMAGE> |
