PURPOSE:To obtain a CRT stem having increased dielectric strength, adequate formability, and high reliability by replacing a removed lead with a heat-resisting and insulating lead. CONSTITUTION:A removed lead among a plurality of leads 4 is replaced with a heat-resisting and insulating lead 11 having the same coefficient of thermal expansion as glass. The lead 11 is usually made of forsterite ceramics. Because a button 1 and central part 5 are heated in the same degree over the whole circumference, occurrence of defects such as wrinkles or very small cracks can be prevented and narrowing an opening 6 of an exhaust pipe 2 as shown in the figure can be prevented. Then, a highly reliable stem of a CRT can be manufactured with a high yield. |
