PURPOSE:To prepare a tooth paste composition giving excellent feeling to the mouth, and exhibiting the function of the tooth paste effectively without deashing the tooth enamel, by adding an insoluble sodium metaphosphate having more than specific amount of water-insoluble component and a specific degree of copper plate abrasion. CONSTITUTION:An insoluble sodium metaphosphate having a water-insoluble content of >=99wt% is used as an abrasive of a tooth paste composition containing preferably a fluorine compound. The abrasive performance of the sodium metaphosphate is defined as follows: The abrasion loss of a copper plate is 1- 5mg when a suspension obtained by the dispersing 10g of the abrasive in 30g of water is applied to a JISH-3361 copper plate (Vickars hardness; 120) and brushed 20,000 times for 2hr with a nylon brush (62) having the hardness of M (according to the Household Goods Quality Certification Law), the number of bristles of 44, the bristle diameter of 8mil and the bristle length of 12mm. under the load of 200g. The abrasive is not only effective to eliminate the astringency, and improve the feeling to the mouth, but also to exhibit various effects such as the elongation of the effective life of the fluorine compound. |
