End stage and/or liquefaction stage of a gas-refrigerating machine which operates according to the Vuilleumier principle, having an energy supply system which comprises concentrating collector, absorber, latent heat store and connectable high-temperature heat tubes which supply the VM machine with heat of approximately 800-1000 DEG K, and having a waste-heat system which channels away the process heat and guides the heat flow to a radiator by means of low-temperature heat tubes. An intermittently operating end stage is connected to the VM machine, the intermediate store or compression store of which end stage is heated via the low-temperature heat tube system or via the high-temperature heat-tube system. <IMAGE>
