The invention relates to a double-handled fishing-rod reel with a thumb rest. This thumb rest has a flat portion on which the thumb of the angler can be positioned when the fishing reel is in use, and which is attached to one of the struts that serve to keep the two lateral frame plates of the reel a fixed distance apart. The strut in question is arranged above the reel and in front of the axis of the reel. The thumb rest can form an integral whole with the strut. The thumb rest thus formed permits secure retention of the reel in the hand of the angler, improves the reel drive in all directions, and in particular eliminates the cause of pain or fatigue in the thumb of the angler which holds the reel, especially when the fishing-rod reel is held by the thumb for an extended period. |
