PURPOSE:To prevent the reverse V segregation by inserting and disposing a cylindrical steel partition wall which suppresses the melt flow to the center of a mold during solidifying into the mold. CONSTITUTION:In the case of, for example, a bottom casting ingot making method, a cylindrical steel partition wall 4 is inserted into a mold 2 fixed on a molding board 1 while suspending the same with supporting bars 3 or the like, and molten metal is charged from a charging pipe through a sprue 5. Although the shape of the partition wall 4 is not particularly limited, the cylindrical shape approximately similar to the inside surface shape of the mold 2 is most effective. Since the wall 4 has the effect of preventing the above-mentioned melt flow and inhibiting the local concentration of alloy components, the best results are obtained if it is disposed concentrically in the central part in order to provide this effect. If the wall 4 is too thin, it melts in a short time after the charging of the molten metal, and fails to provide the effect of inhibiting the melt flow. On the other hand, if it is too thick, the unmolten part generates locally, thus offering the possibility of creating clearances at the interface between the partition wall and the solidified part. |
