PURPOSE:To enable to effect the sealing of the shaft surely against a leaked fluid even if a packing is deteriorated by a method wherein a passage, to discharge the fluid leaked into the section of a distant piece to the low pressure side of the machine by a pressure difference, is provided in this device. CONSTITUTION:Oil in a runner box 2 is intercepted by the packing 4 for the oil and will never be leaked therefrom. However, when the leakage of flowing water or the oil is caused due to the deterioration of the packings 3, 4, the leaked fluid is flowed into a cover chamber 13 from the groove 9A of the distant piece 5 through holes 10, 11, 14. The leaked fluid flowed into the cover chamber 13 is discharged to the outside of the machine by a pipe 17. The flow of the leaked fluid is generated automatically by the pressure difference between the leaked fluid and the cover chamber 13 and thereby ensuring the sealing of the shaft against the leaked fluid. |
