PURPOSE:To modify converter slag in such a way that it can be used effectively for subbase course materials, concrete coarse aggregate, etc. by adding a slag modifier consisting essentially of silicic acid or iron oxide to the molten slag in a converter after tapping and blowing O2 through a blowing lance. CONSTITUTION:A converter 1 after the completion of refiningIcontg. molten steel 2 and converter slag 3 is titled to tap II the steel 2 through a tap hole 6 into a ladle 4. Next, the converterIcompleted of the tapping II is returned to a normal position III by leaving the slag 3 therein, and the above-mentioned slag modifier is added to the slag 3 and O2 is blown through a blowing lance 6, whereby a modification treatment III is applied. Thence, the slag 3 after the treatment III is discharged IV into a slag pan 7, and is carried to slag treating shop by the pan 7, where it is flowed into a slag field. After cooling, the slag is crushed and the base metal, etc. are screened. As a result, the modified converter slag of less f-CaO and free from occurrence of collapse by expansion is obtained. |
