PURPOSE:To prevent any damage to a phosphor film which might be caused during the bending work of a glass bulb by making the phosphor film by use of mixture consisting of a phosphor having a mean grain diameter of within a given range, and below a given amount of a binding agent. CONSTITUTION:The inner wall of a glass bulb 1 is coated with a film 2 consisting of a phosphor having a mean grain diameter of 2.5-4.5mu and below 5wt% of a binding agent. Next, the ends of the bulb 1 are provided with electrode structures 3 made of a tungsten filament, and the bulb 1 is curved so that it has a curvature of 5-50mm. inner diameter and has three-dimensional W-shaped form. After that, the bulb 1 is charged with mercury and an easily dischargable gas, such as argon, thereby constituting a fluorescent lamp. Consequently, any separation or crack of the phosphor film 2, which might be developed during the bending work of the bulb 1, can be prevented by increasing the adhesive strength between the film 2 and the bulb 1. Besides, any deterioration of the strength of the bulb 1 can be prevented. |
