PURPOSE:To improve the starting performance, the yield and the efficiency of a flat fluorescent lamp by connecting electrodes and a metal lid case by means of a rectification circuit, and making the electric potential of the metal lid case to be negative to that of one of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A plate-like lid case 4 made of metal is fused to the surface end of the opening of a unified molded glass case, which is provided with partition walls 3 and has a meandering path in it. After that, electrodes 5 are provided at both ends of the above meandering path, and the whole constitutes a flat fluorescent lamp 1. The electrodes 5 and the metal lid case 4 are connected by means of a rectification circuit 12 so that the lid case 4 has an electric potential negative to that of one of the electrodes 5. Then, a preheating current is fed from a power source 9 through a choke-coil-type ballast 10 and the electrodes 5, a glow lamp 11 is desconnected to make kick voltage to develop, and the lamp 1 is lit by the above kick voltage. |
