<p>In a method for collecting oil (16) which floats on water a boom (4) is used which is towed or moored in a current so that it forms a bend (5) where the oil is collected and removed by means of a skimming device (13). In order to utilize the method when current velocities exceed 2 knots, a backwater or vortex (12) is created on the upstream side of the bend (5) of the boom, where the skimming device is positioned. The vortex is separated from the passing water by means of a partition (7). The vortex may be formed by a boom section (10) which is extended transversely of the current direction (9) on the up stream side of the bend (5) of the boom.</p> |
