A tube is connected via a feed control to a fluid tank. The tube is also connected to a level sensor which during the filling process automatically activates the feed control so that when a required level of fluid is reached in the cell, fluid flow is interrupted. - The sensor comprises a second tube running parallel to the first one, and with a lower aperture which during the filling process is positioned at the required level in the cell. The tube is connected to a gas source via a pipe on which a pressure gauge is connected. This gauge on increase of pressure caused by the electrolyte level increasing to cover the lower aperture of the sensor tube, activates the feed control to terminate filling.
