<p>The lock uses a key switch to connect electric supply to a micro-motor, inside the lock enclosure, which operates the door latch, through a gearbox. The electric supply may be derived from the AC mains or from a battery stored inside the lock housing. The external key switch has sockets allowing an external supply to be connected in the event of failure of the main supply. Conventional key (12) is used to operate the externally mounted key switch which closes contacts to operate a relay (3) which connects (4) either transformed (13) AC from the AC mains or DC from a battery (2) to the micro-motor (10). The micro-motor gearbox has a screw output which moves the latch horizontally. Emergency supply can be connected via sockets (8) on the key switch.</p> |
