PURPOSE:To improve the compensation accuracy of dark current, by the constitution that a dark current component and a signal component are separately transferred and outputted in each charge transfer section, in a image pickup device which reduces the effect of the dark current. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd charge transfer sections CCD1 and CCD2 are located at both sides of a sensor section via transfer gates TG3 and TG3'. Charges produced in signal detection cells 01-06 are transferred in a cell OB at the outside of the CCDs 1 and 2 and charges generated in dark current detection cells 01'-06' are transferred in an inside cell OA. Each charge separately transferred in the CCDs 1 and 2 is amplified and outputted at output terminals Oa, Oad and Ob, Obd. By taking the difference of the output voltages among the output terminals Oa, Oad and Ob, Obd and synthesizing them, a voltage only with a signal component without dark current component is obtained. |
