PURPOSE:To enable the production of a desired protein free from the spores of host bacteria in a large amount, by making the expression of a gene for the desired protein to be inducible at any time during the culture of the host bacteria. CONSTITUTION:An insecticidal protein can be produced at any time during the culture of host bacteria by making a gene coding an insecticidal protein originated from Bacillus thuringiensis to express with the promoter of the gluconic acid operon of Bacillus subtilis whose gene expression is induced in the presence of gluconic acid. the gene contains preferably a DNA fragment containing the promoter controlling the transcription of the gluconic acid operon of the Bacillus subtilis and the controlled gluconic acid operon whose transcription is adjusted by catabolite repression.
