<p>The appts. is fixed to a radiator and indicates its heat output to attribute the heating cost in a building where all the flats are heated by a single boiler. A graduated tube is filled with a volatile liquid which evaporates to the air through a channel. A closed container, filled with another liquid, is connected through a pipe to a lower part of the evaporation channel. When the temp. exceeds a certain value, the second liquid enters a portion of the evaporation channel, due to thermal expansion, and decreases its section as the temp. increases. The volatile liq. is acetic acid.</p> |
