PURPOSE:To enhance the slot space factor of an armature coil winding device by securing the prescribed winding space of a coil with a former which moves radially and outwardly of an armature core and winding the coil from the bottom of a slot horizontally and in high density. CONSTITUTION:A coil 11 of a wire 6 is wound on an armature core 7 with a slot by an armature coil winding machine 10. The frame of the machine 10 has a pair of spacer supports 13, 14 mounted on a horizontal table 12. A housing or bearings 15, 16 are mounted on the supports 13, 14 via horizontal slides 17, 18 to move toward each other or away from each other. Chucks 21, 22 are formed in a shape having circular-arc-shaped recess 23 corresponding to the cylindrical surface of the core 7, thereby clamping the core 7 and holding the wire 6 at the winding position. |
