PURPOSE:To correct the strain of a rack gear and the deformation of a rack shaft by a method in which a rack molded by forging is geared with a pinion- shaped supporting base having a shape corresponding to that of a pinion to be engaged with the rack and then pressed together. CONSTITUTION:A rack 2 molded by a forging press is geared with a pinion- shaped supporting bese by turning its rack teeth 2a downwards, and the concaved portion 4a of a pressure shaft 4 is lowered and coupled with the rack 2 and further pressed. The operations are repeated for each one tooth of the rack 2. By this, the bend of the rack shaft can be corrected and the deformation, shown by the solid line (a), of the rack gear 2a can be corrected to right teeth shape, as shown by the solid line (b), by the correcting gear 5a of a pinion- shaped supporting base 5. |
